Matej Mostarac

MATEJ MOSTARAC

Mayor, City of Kastav

Matej Mostarac was born in 1987 in Rijeka. He completed his primary education in Kastav and went on to study at the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Rijeka. His professional journey has spanned industry, entrepreneurship, and local politics.

He began his career as a CNC programmer at Botheh CNC Processing d.o.o. (2010–2012) before moving to Dynomax Aero d.o.o., where he worked as a production team leader (2012–2014). In 2014, he founded his own company, Kast Mechatronics d.o.o., where he currently serves as a board member. Alongside his business ventures, he has furthered his education at business academies and institutions specializing in management and public relations.

Matej has been socially engaged from an early age. He served as president of the Kastav Youth Council (2008–2012) and the Kastav Youth Center (2008–2015). Within the Youth Forum of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia, he held the position of secretary (2010–2012) and has been an active member since 2009. He also contributed to the SDP’s “Plan for Housing” Committee (2023–2024).

In local politics, he first served as a city councilor in Kastav (2014–2017) before being elected mayor in 2017, a position he continues to hold.

On a personal note, he is married to Diana and is a proud father to his daughter, Nora.
