DUNJA MAZZOCCO DRVAR

Regional Conservation Director, WWF Adria

A meteorologist with experience in climate change impacts and communication. Dunja started her career at the National Hydrometeorological Service in forecasting and numerical modelling. She then worked in the two media consecutively as the editor and presenter for weather and science, gradually devoting more and more to communication and education about climate change. From February 2021 to September 2023, she acted as the Director General for Climate Activities in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, participating in the adoption of the National Strategy for Low Carbon Development until 2030 and many other by-laws, as well as in the process of negotiations, harmonisation and adoption of some parts of the European energy and climate legal package Fit for 55.

She is now the Regional Conservation Director in the regional affiliation of the World Wide Fund for Nature, WWF Adria, responsible for regional environmental policy work and implementation of projects on wildlife, marine, forestry and freshwater protection and restoration. She is the winner of the European Meteorological Society Award for the best Tv piece in the world in 2018. She is the author of many professional and scientific papers and popular scientific texts, and a reviewer of one meteorological children’s book.
