Josip Tica

Josip Tica is a Full Professor at the Department of Macroeconomics and Economic Development at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb. His primary research interests include macroeconomics, transition economics, and the housing market. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Zagreb in 2005, while pursuing his doctoral studies, as a Fulbright scholar, he spent a 2004/05 academic year as a visiting researcher at the University of Pittsburgh. His expertise and contributions to economics have led him to deliver invited lectures at several esteemed institutions in the United States, including Fort Hays State University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Fort Lewis College. He was a member of the Supervisory Board of the leading Croatian insurance company Croatia Osiguranje d.d. during its privatisation process and a member of the Governing Council of the Central Register of Insured Persons (REGOS) during its transition of pension system from a pay-as-you-go model to a partially funded system. Additionally, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Državne nekretnine d.o.o. during its initial phase, when the company was being established to manage real estate properties owned by the Republic of Croatia. He serves on the Finance and Central Budget Committee of the Croatian Parliament and in the past, he served in two terms on the Committee on the Economy of the Croatian Parliament. Furthermore, he was a member of the Public Recognition Committee at the City Assembly of Zagreb. Since 2016, Josip Tica has served as the Chief Economic Advisor for the Social Democratic Party, providing strategic economic guidance and expertise.
